Dwight woman reports a Microsoft scam

A Microsoft scam is showing up in Muskoka. A woman from Dwight called The Moose to tell us she got a call early this morning from a supposed Microsoft employee warning her Microsoft will shut down if she doesn’t get help to fix it. The person on the phone wanted access to her computer. The woman quickly hung up. We called Microsoft who says they do not call customers for access to their computers or personal information. Microsoft also says they have received similar complaints about this scam from other customers. If you get a call like this, hang up and call the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre.
