Huntsville works on new bylaw for the Empire site

Town of Huntsville staff is currently working on a bylaw to amend the zoning at the old Empire Hotel site. At the Planning Advisory Committee meeting last week, Mayor Claude Doughty suggested staff come up with a bylaw to allow up to five stories. The current bylaw only allows for a building to be up to four stories in the downtown core. There are other parameters that need to be outlined like the amount of green space and how far back the building can be from the sidewalk. The bylaw will be presented at a future council meeting instead of going to committee first.
