Dara Howell's dad not worried about security in Sochi

Security at Sochi has been a hot topic after recent bomb attacks and dead bodies found in southern Russia. Huntsville’s Slopestyle skier Dara Howell is competing in the Olympics. Her father, Doug Howell says he has faith Dara will be safe.

Last week, the bodies of six men were found in cars, three of which were filled with bombs. One bomb exploded, but no one else was hurt. This was the third incident in two months. The Canadian Olympic Committee has said the safety of our athletes is their top priority.

Meantime, with only a few weeks left until the Olympics, Howell says Dara is both excited and nervous.

He also says she isn’t allowing herself to think about the Olympics too much right now. She has one major competition left on January 26th and is working really hard to do well.

If you want to support our local athlete, you can buy Dara Howell t-shirts at Algonquin Outfitters in Huntsville. All proceeds from the sale go towards Dara and her Olympic journey.
