The U18 National Women’s Hockey Championship has its host committee and planning has begun. The event is happening at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville in November. Committee Chair Wendy McConnell says this is an exciting opportunity.

The championships run from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8, 2015. McConnell says it’s going to be a great event for residents in Muskoka.

This event is going to benefit the local economy. McConnell says we are going to see a big influx of people coming into the community including scouting teams and university scouts.

McConnell says we are also going to see family and friends from other provinces come to support their team. Eight teams from across Canada will compete with over 200 athletes participating. McConnell says the committee hopes to get ticket sales going in March.
