The Land Between wants to help teach students in Muskoka about water in our area and how important it is to cities around us. They’re launching a contest for the first time for students in grades 5 to 12 to see who can best describe the importance of our headwater lakes. Founder Leora Berman explains how the contest works.
The winner of the contest will get 500 dollars, and will be crowned the Highlands Headwater Champion. Their entry will also be used in a final video produced by Muskoka Watershed Council. Berman explains the goal behind the contest.
Berman says there are a lot of local resources like Lindsay McGregor at the Muskoka Watershed Council. Berman says students will be leaders one day, and they want to make sure they have the confidence and know that their voice can make a difference.
