OPP report a decrease in impaired drivers

There were less impaired drivers in 2013 compared to the year before. From November 23rd until yesterday, the OPP has been patrolling our highways and roads in the Festive RIDE campaign.

Just under 580 impaired driving charges were laid across Ontario, compared to a little over 690 in 2012. Police also issued about 480 suspensions, which is almost 145 less than the previous year.

Although the numbers are good, the OPP says the charges still serve as a reminder that a small number of impaired drivers threatened the lives of other road users over the holidays.
