ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON-Effective immediately, a total fire ban has come into effect for parts of the Almaguin Highlands region.
Burks Falls Fire Chief Dave McNay confirmed with MyMuskokaNow that the Perry Township, Kearney, Burks Falls, Magnetawan, Armour Township, and McMurrich/Monteith are under the effect of the ban.
During the ban, residents will not be allowed to have any open burning, including campfires, incinerators, fireworks, and burning of any kind.
McNay said that this has come into effect due to the sweltering temperatures and the extreme dryness.
