Bracebridge OPP is reminding residents to secure your cottages this winter season. Police say seasonal break ins are not new and are often preventable through community engagement in crime reduction initiatives. The OPP says if owners are not using their cottages during the winter months, they should follow these tips. Pack up all your food and alcohol, remove any firearms or weapons, don’t leave behind any valuables, secure your windows and close your blinds. Police also suggest you hide any sporting goods that are outside such as fishing rods, water skis and toys. If you do see anything suspicious, please call police.
