Hospital site recommendation not ruffling Mayor Scott Aitchison’s feathers

Mayor Scott Aitchison may be giving away a spoiler for the future of Muskoka’s healthcare services.

Aitchison has been a strong advocate for keeping MAHC’s two hospital sites intact, rather than moving services to one site. He is also a member of the Capital Development Task Force, which will be releasing its hospital site recommendation to the MAHC board on August 8th.

On Monday, Aitchison told Huntsville council he couldn’t say much, but he wasn’t mad about the recommendation.

The task force has spent a year reviewing the pros and cons of the three model proposals: keeping acute services at each of the sites in Huntsville and Bracebridge, offering inpatient and outpatient sites or moving all services to one site.

The MAHC Board will consider the recommendation from the task force before making a final site decision.
