Gravenhurst considers bidder for Greavette Street storm sewer replacement

Gravenhurst is moving closer to getting shovels in the ground on a storm sewer replacement project.

The town is considering a bid from a Colborne-based company to complete the Greavette storm sewer replacement for just over $940,000. In 2013, the town discovered the system was too small to provide proper drainage. The stormwater system has also collapsed in a few sections, which has led to constant flooding along the street.

If this bid is accepted by council, the overall cost of the project, including consultation, will come in just over $1 million. Town administration says this is about $70,000 over the original budget, but it’s hopeful to find savings in other projects to offset the cost.

Councillors will decide on the bid at the next meeting on Tuesday.
