Hamlet Bridge to be closed in August for full replacement

The Hamlet Bridge is getting replaced and it could affect your driving plans in Gravenhurst.

Parks Canada is undertaking a major renovation, replacing both the swing and fixed portions of the two-part bridge. Work is expected to start this August and run until next June. During this time the bridge will be completely closed to traffic. Boats will still be able to use the waterway until Thanksgiving weekend in October Parks Canada officials say the work is part of an ongoing effort to preserve historic features along the Trent-Severn Waterway.

The bridge runs between Canning Road and Peninsula Point Road connecting Gravenhurst and Severn. The detour will run along the South Sparrow Lake Road.
