Provincial officials are reaching out to municipalities looking for marijuana store sites

The province is in search of locations for its new marijuana stores for 2018.

Ontario officials announced today that municipalities like Bracebridge, Huntsville and Gravenhurst have been contacted. The province is looking for communities that are interested in having one of these new LCBO-run stores. Officials want locations that aren’t close to schools and will reach a large number of potential buyers.

By next July, 40 stores province-wide are expected to be open to the public. This is when the federal government plans to legalize marijuana sales. The province wants to have 150 stores in service by 2020. You can keep track of which communities are selected for these marijuana stores here.
