Andy’s House proposed hospice gets a huge boost in funding from local donations

A proposed hospice facility in Muskoka is getting a lot of financial support.
The Andy Potts Foundation recently received three different donations that totaled nearly $600,000. Board Member Matt Hanes says this week two local philanthropists donated $250,000 each and Muskoka Lakes Township donated another $59,000 from the Mayor’s Classic golf tournament. Hanes says these donations are getting the foundation closer to its $2.5 million goal to build the hospice Andy’s House.

Hanes says they’re hoping to start construction on Andy’s House in Port Carling next spring. He says you don’t need to make a big donation to help the foundation reach their goal.

Andy’s House will be overseen by Hospice Muskoka to provide more palliative care beds in the district. The foundation was created in memory of local OPP Officer Andy Potts who was killed in a car crash in 2005.
