Honey Harbour PS students will have a new school to attend this fall

Honey Harbour Public School is on the move.
The elementary school was at risk of closing earlier this year. Instead, it was given a five-year lifeline by the Trillium Lakelands District School Board. Starting in the fall, students from Honey Harbour Public School will be moving into the former Catholic elementary school Our Lady of Mercy. Our Lady of Mercy officially closed its doors on June 30 this year after the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board saw a drop in enrollment numbers.
TLDSB Chair Louise Clodd says moving into the old Catholic school will mean fewer grades in each classroom. She says moving into the old Catholic school will provide more space so each grade can have its own room. TLDSB officials say there won’t be any changes to busing schedules for Honey Harbour Public School heading into the new year.
