Public list of heritage properties in Gravenhurst has been updated

Gravenhurst is keeping up with its historical past.
The town recently updated its Municipal Register of Cultural Heritage Properties to add the Narrows Lighthouse. The structure was built in 1905 to help navigate ships through the shallow and dangerous Narrows. Officials say for the first 44 years of use, the lighthouse was tended to by Isaac Barnes who would light and extinguish the lantern daily. Under the Ontario Heritage Act, the town is responsible for updating a public registry of heritage properties in the community. The list still needs to be approved by council before its posted for the public.
