Environment Canada confirms three tornadoes touched down in Muskoka in one day

Weather officials are reportingĀ a third tornado touched down in Muskoka.

This update follows confirmation from Environment Canada earlier in the week that two tornadoes touched down in Muskoka last Friday. Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says investigators were sent back to the area after getting reports of damage in Utterson.

Kimbell says this third tornado would have been an EF1, which means it had wind speeds of about 160km/h. He says this type of severe weather isn’t really that unusual for this time of year in Muskoka.

Earlier this week, the weather service reported an EF1 tornado touched down just south of Huntsville and an EF2 Ā hit northeast of the town on Friday afternoon. The entire district was put under a Tornado Watch for over an hour during the afternoon as a severe thunderstorm rolled through. There was a lot of damage reported in these areas, but no one was hurt.
