MS Self-help group starting in Muskoka

Support for those living with Multiple Sclerosis in Muskoka is on the way. The MS Society of Simcoe-Muskoka is starting a self-help groupĀ in the area. The group will meet around once a month and will be led by a volunteer facilitator. The MS Society says it gives people a chance to talk about their lives with MS, make friends, and support one another.

The organization says no one knows more about a problem than those living with it, and individuals can share their challenges and successes with the group. It says sharing those experiences with people who understand helps people realize they aren’t alone.

No details on times and locations are out, as it will depend on how people are interested. There are already groups running in Alliston, Barrie and Orillia.

The MS Society of Canada provides services to people with the chronic disease and their families. It also funds research to find a cause and cure for the disease. It was founded in 1948 and has a membership of around 17,000 people.

If you want to join the group, callĀ Laura at (705) 733-0488 or atĀ [email protected].
