Environment Canada says damaging weekend storm likely didn’t produce a tornado

Destruction just east of Bracebridge likely wasn’t caused by a tornado.

This is from Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson in response to the Sunday storm that tore up trees and downed power lines along Highway 118 east.

Coulson says these storms can still be dangerous and if there’s lightning you should find cover or get inside.

He says we’re likely to see more severe thunderstorms as we move into storm season in Muskoka, which runs until September.
