Huntsville picks a developer to build affordable housing on Sabrina Park Drive

Huntsville has picked a developer to build on the land it donated for attainable housing. At last week’s committee meeting, the town agreed to work with Craig Development to build a mix of affordable and regular housing on the land at Sabrina Park Drive.

Mayor Scott Aitchison says they went with this particular company because of its vision.

Aitchison says their presentation covered a lot of that, while also including a lot of research into similar projects in Toronto.

Aitchison says it was an important aspect for the town that the company learned from experience on what not to do. Aitchison also says the District of Muskoka has different programs for both builders and renters to help subsidize the project.

The agreement with Craig Development will now have to be voted on at the next council meeting before it’s officially approved.
