Wynne promises Hydro cuts are on the way for Muskoka residents

Ontario’s Premier is continuing to promote her plan to cut Hydro rates in the province. Kathleen Wynne was in Muskoka on Friday to re-announce $1.1 million for the Stephenson Road 1 Bridge replacement, where she also spoke about the 25 per cent cut that was promised in March.

She says everyone in the district should start getting lower bills soon.

Wynne also says that number could be even higher for rural residents in Muskoka.

However, Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller says these cuts aren’t fixing the root of the problem, which is signing renewable energy contracts at a loss

Miller also says the cuts mean the province will be paying around $40 billion in interest over the next 30 years to finance the subsidy.
