Huntsville kids are getting a chance to go to adventure camp for free this summer

Deerhurst and The Nest are teaming up to send some kids to camp for free. Every summer, the resort will offer an opportunity for five kids to join its adventure camp in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday.

Families that are members of The Nest can apply, and every year five names will be randomly drawn to take part at no cost. General Manager Jesse Hamilton says they created the opportunity to do as much as they can for the local community.

Manger of Children’s Programs for the District of Muskoka, Tina Kilbourne, says not only will the opportunity benefit local families; it will also help raise awareness for The Nest.

Kilbourne also notes camp is very expensive, and families are always looking for ways to keep their kids entertained in the summertime.

On top of that, she says it’s a way for kids to make new friends and bond with others in their community. The typical cost for one camper is around $400 a week. The camp includes things like rock climbing, tree top trekking, and banana boating.

To apply, call The Nest at (705) 990 2040 and they will direct you to the online link. The deadline is June 15th, at which points names will be randomly drawn to pick the participants.

More details about the non-profit family resource center are on The Nest website, and details on the camp are on the Deerhurst website:
