Huntsville delaying issuing an RFP on the Waterloo Summit Centre

Huntsville is putting off a Request for Proposal on the Waterloo Summit Centre, at least for now. During Tuesday night’s meeting council agreed to table the RFP until next month, so they could have some time to get details about Accelerate Muskoka’s plan for the building, which is now partly empty.

The company wants to turn the centre into an innovation park with an anchor tenant, and to have space for start-up companies to use. The companies would be ones that are specifically involved in climate change technologies.

Huntsville has been looking for a use for the building after the University of Waterloo backed out of its lease a year early. Council will now take the month to discuss the options with Accelerate Muskoka, before deciding if it was issue an RFP.
