Super 8 fined $25,000 following Huntsville hotel investigation

Super 8 is paying a hefty fine for one of its hotels in Huntsville.

The company and local hotel owner both pleaded guilty to seven fire code violations each under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.

According to Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Chief Stephen Hernen, the department had received a complaint about the Main Street West property and had gone in to investigate.

He says his department found the fire alarm system was shut down, smoke alarms weren’t working properly and the fire door exits were blocked with ice and snow.
