Norm Miller looking for some answers on the Ring of Fire

Norm Miller is looking for action on a northern Ontario mining issue. The Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP says the Ring of Fire would boost the northern economy, and the Wynne government is more talk than action when it comes to helping the stalled project move forward.

Miller raised the issue at Queen’s Park this week, asking about how much money has been spent on building roads that lead to the chromite project.

Miller says it’s time some decisions are made.

However, Ontario’s Minister of Northern Development and Mines, Bill Mauro, says Premier Kathleen Wynne has always been clear with her $1 billion commitment for infrastructure in the Ring of Fire.

Mauro says the government is working with First Nation communities that border the project to get transportation infrastructure built.

The Globe and Mail released a report last summer that says a road to the Ring of Fire would cost between $264 million to $559 million to build, which came from a government study that wasn’t made public.
