New chemo prep area will ensure a safe and sterile space for drug preparation in Huntsville

Huntsville Hospital now has a safe and sterile place to prepare chemotherapy drugs.
An updated preparation room was needed to continue providing chemotherapy through the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program.
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare CEO Natalie Bubela says the area provides safety for the pharmacy techs mixing the drugs and keeps the chemo sterile for patients.
The project cost over half a million dollars and was funded through the District of Muskoka, TD Bank and local residents Chris and George Gilley.
The Huntsville Hospital Foundation also donated necessary equipment for preparing and storing the chemo drugs.
The hospital will continue to prepare more than 1,300 doses of chemotherapy every year with this new area.
