Muskoka Lakes Chamber official wants to take a step back from the merger discussion

A merger is not on the table, but that doesn’t close the door to working together.
This is the message from Muskoka Lakes Chamber of Commerce General Manager Norah Fountain in response to the ongoing discussion on a re-brand of the Bracebridge Chamber.
Fountain says when Bracebridge officials announced the intention to change their name to Muskoka Chamber in January, her side went into action to reserve that name.
Bracebridge Chamber Executive Director Brenda Rhodes says they are unable to use the Muskoka Chamber name due to this block from Muskoka Lakes.
But, Fountain says it’s not just her chamber that is blocking Bracebridge officials.
Fountain says this on going discussion isn’t stopping the two chambers from working together on projects that are benefiting all of their members.
Gravenhurst Chamber President Bob Collins has similar feelings saying at this point he has no interest in a merger, but he wants to continue working together with the Bracebridge Chamber as well.
Bracebridge Executive Director Brenda Rhodes says her chamber is still committed to this re-brand strategy and is still open to meeting with other chambers to talk about it.
