Collin Cameron to finish Para-Nordic skiing competition in Germany before heading to Olympic Trials

A former Bracebridge man is one step closer to qualifying for the 2018 Paralympics. Collin Cameron is competing in Germany this week, in the 2017 World Para-Nordic Skiing Championships. The 28-year-old came in 5th in the 15 kilometre biathlon on Saturday, and 4th in the 800 meter sprint on Sunday, and has three more races this week. Those results give Cameron a shot at the Olympics, as he’ll now be off to South Korea for the trials in March.

Para-Nordic is cross country skiing and biathlon for those with a physical impairment. Cameron was born with arthrogryposis, which causes muscle shortening. This is only his second winter competing in the sport, and reached a personal best over the weekend in the 800 meter sprint.

Cameron lived in both Port Sydney and Bracebridge before moving to Sudbury after college. He played sledge hockey there, and found Para-Nordic skiing in 2015.
