Lake of Bays looking at Huntsville’s Mayor pitch to change Muskoka’s road maintenance system

A pitch by Huntsville’s Mayor to change the way Muskoka roads are maintained is making waves. Lake of Bays council discussed the idea during this week’s meeting, which is to essentially stop paying the District of Muskoka roads division, and instead have each municipality pay for, and maintain, local roads.

Lake of Bays Mayor, Bob Young, says he likes the idea because it could save some money, but there are some lingering questions.

Young says those are the roads the province forced upon on the municipality, and the maintenance costs might be too high. The idea is still being discussed around the district, and Young says more information is needed before his council can officially support the resolution.
