Young Bracebridge hockey player helps to bring home a win in an international competition

A 12-year-old hockey player from Bracebridge is bringing home the gold. Ashlin Baker plays for the Barrie Sharks team, and took part in the Bell Capital Cup World Championships over the Christmas holidays in Ottawa.

Almost 600 games were played in the tournament, on a variety of different rinks across the city. That includes the Canadian Tire Centre, where the Ottawa Senators play. Teams from Canada, Europe, and the United States all took part in the tournament.

Baker says the best part of the tournament was being with her team and, of course, winning hockey games.

Baker has big plans for the rest of her hockey career, saying she wants to get a scholarship for school, and to try for the Canadian Olympic team.

For now though, she’ll continue with her middle school studies, and playing on her PeeWee AA team.
