School official responds after student is pricked with discarded hypodermic needle

An official with Monck Public School in Bracebridge is responding after a student discovered a needle just outside of the school yard.
Principal Caroline Patterson says the school has always been and remains committed to the safety of the students.
She says the school has been dealing with the issue of garbage being left on and around the grounds.
Patterson says students are often reminded to tell a teacher if anything is found on or near the school grounds that doesn’t belong there.
She adds the school is considering new options to ensure the safety of students while on the school yard.
Student Brad Ross found a discarded hypodermic needle just outside of the school yard last week and was pricked by the needle.
His family is waiting back on blood work to ensure he hasn’t contracted anything from the discarded needle.
