Fireworks celebrations cancelled across the Township of Muskoka Lakes

There won’t be any fireworks displays in the Township of Muskoka Lakes this weekend.

Deputy Fire Chief Harry Baranik reports all planned fireworks shows have been cancelled due to the high fire danger rating in Muskoka.

This includes the July 1st displays planned at Jaspen Park in Bala and JW Marriot The Rosseau in Minett, as well as the July 2nd planned display at Walkers Point Marina.

There is also a total ban on personal fireworks at any residence within the Township of Muskoka Lakes jurisdiction.

According to fire officials, open air burning is still allowed, however you must keep the fire small and under constant supervision.

This does not affect fireworks in Bracebridge, Huntsville, Baysville or Dorset.
