TLDSB officials prepared to return to negotiations with local teachers’ union

Officials with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board are disappointed with a recent decision from the Ontario Labour Relations Board, but are still ready to move forward.

This from the Chair of the TLDSB Board Louise Clodd after a decision to dismiss concerns from the school board over the teachers’ union contract requests was handed down this week from the OLRB.

On Tuesday, officials with District 15 of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation announced the labour board had found nothing illegal about the union’s requests.

Clodd says TLDSB has reached out to the provincial mediator once again in order to return to the bargaining table.

Clodd adds that while the position of the OSSTF is not illegal, that does not mean it has to be negotiated.

District 15 officials called on the board to return to negotiations after the OLRB decision was announced.

These teachers have been without a contract for over 20 months.
