BMLSS students head to G7 conference in Haliburton

Students from Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School are travelling to Haliburton to take part in an important conference.

The Trillium Lakelands District School Board G7 conference kicks off at Haliburton High School today and seven schools from across the board will each have 10 students attending.

G7 Senate Representative Shannon Boolsen Voorster says there are a few interesting topics that will be covered at this meeting.

Boolsen Voorster says while the topics of discussion are important, it is vital to be able to bring these ideas back to school and lead students in these initiatives.

English teacher at BMLSS and staff representative for the G7 group Mandy McKenzie says Boolsen Voorster always seems able to get students involved in the various G7 initiatives.

McKenzie says the G7 conferences are completely student organized and run.

She says it gives students an opportunity to learn important leadership skills and use them to help their peers at school.
