Bracebridge downtown growing through Community Improvement Plan

A few downtown Bracebridge businesses are taking advantage of the Community Improvement Plan grants.

Recently, Mayor Graydon Smith took a walk through the downtown area to get an idea of some of the business improvements happening.

Smith toured the proposed site for Kelly’s Kitchen, a pub which would feature an Irish-inspired menu.

Owners Patrick and Eilish Kelly are taking advantage of the Building Improvement, Property Improvement and Façade Improvement grants available.

They hope to have Kelly’s Kitchen open by May long weekend and are anticipating 10 new jobs to be created by the new pub.

Also on Manitoba Street, Veranda is expanding to a 5,000 square foot space with the purchase of a second property next door to her existing business on 24 Manitoba Street.

Just down the street, Ah Naturel will be expanding to 1,500 square feet with a newly rented property just up the street.

Both businesses have applied for the Business Improvement Grant.

Smith says these grants allow business owners to put their money into their product and not the building.

Camp Muskoka owner Scott Creed has recently purchased new property on Manitoba Street.

Creed is taking advantage of the Business Improvement Grant and the Façade Improvement.

With the new property he will be selling clothes, coffee and ice cream starting July 1st.
