Bracebridge man charged in $10,000 tax scam

A Bracebridge man has been arrested for posing as a representative from the Canada Revenue Agency.
The 23-year-old allegedly contacted a woman in Bracebridge in June of this year stating that she owed money for a tax debt.
According to police the victim sent him $10,000 to take care of the debt.
Police believed the call had originated from Quebec but the investigation tracked its origin back to Bracebridge.
The man is charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
He will appear in court in Bracebridge on December 15th.
