District Announces Rural Transit System Pilot Project to Begin in January

The District of Muskoka will be launching their extended transit pilot program in January.

The program has received funding by the Ministry of Transportation for $100,000 until March 2017. The goal is to make it easier for people living in rural areas to get to certain towns, programs and services throughout the Muskoka and Lake of Bays regions.

School buses will be used for the pilot project. Routes will run on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s after students are dropped off at school and finished when it s pick up time.

Here is a schedule and fees provided by the District of Muskoka:

There are seven scheduled routes that will be running throughout The District Municipality of Muskoka.

Route 1 – Dwight/Dorset to Huntsville (Tuesdays – weekly)

Route 2 – Baysville to Huntsville (Tuesdays – weekly)

Route 3 – Severn Bridge to Gravenhurst (Thursdays – weekly)

Route 4 – Glen Orchard to Gravenhurst (Tuesday – weekly)

Route 5 – VanKoughnet to Bracebridge (Tuesday – 1st and 3rd week of each month)

Route 6 – MacTier to Bracebridge (Thursdays – Weekly)

Route 7 – Honey Harbour to Midland (Tuesdays – 1st and 3rd week of each month)

Price:

Adults/Seniors = $3.00 one way, $5.00 return trip

Teens 13 – 18  = $2.00 (includes return trip)

Students under 12 = $1.00 (includes return trip)

Preschoolers = FREE
