Gravenhurst looks for new ways to cover sewage repair costs

A sewage system in Gravenhurst is causing some stress for town officials.
The Greavette Sewer system is in dire need of repair, and was put on the 2016 Capital Budget for $100,000.
However the town was not able to get a grant which would have covered the other $900,000 of the million dollar project.
Director of Infrastructure Andrew Stacey says this was the second time the town had applied for the grant and did not receive it.
Council was hesitant to approve the project without financial assistance and has put a placeholder on that $100,000 if town officials are able to come up with the other $900,000 through other means.
Stacey says this issue needs to be fixed soon, or the street could eventually collapse from erosion.
