Two people facing charges after break, enter and theft at Bala business

Two people are facing charges after a break, enter and theft at a Bala business. On Saturday at 4:40 pm, Bracebridge OPP say thieves made off with a cash register after breaking into the business and then fled the scene in a small black car.  A short time later, police located the vehicle travelling on Muskoka Road 169 in Gravenhurst and attempted a traffic stop.  The driver didn’t stop and police pursued the vehicle through Gravenhurst to the dead-end of John Street South where the occupants then fled on foot.

The two suspects were soon found nearby – one had entered a residence to hide from police.

An 18 year-old female from Georgina has been charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle,Obstructing a Peace Officer, Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Possession of Marijuana and Failing to Comply with Probation. She will appear in Bracebridge Criminal Court on April 20th.

As well, a young person, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of Marijuana. That individual will appear in Bracebridge Youth Court on May 7th.
