Bracebridge parent speaks out about his kids being bullied at school

A parent whose children attend Monck Public School in Bracebridge says his kids are being bullied by other students and that not enough is being done by the school’s administration to stop it. Nathan Shortt tells Moose FM his boys and girls have suffered at the hands of bullies and even though he’s met with school staff about the problem, he says the bullying continues…

Shortt says a FB page has been created called ‘Parents for change in TLDSB Bullying Policy’

We spoke to Heather Truscott, Special Programmes Consultant with Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) about the steps parents can take if their child is being bullied at any TLDSB school…

Shortt says he doesn’t think the school is doing enough and he has lingering questions…

Truscott says that if instances of bullying continue, it could lead to suspensions for the bullies and even expulsion in some cases and/or police involvement.

Truscott says there are ongoing supports for parents and students in cases of alleged bullying…

Truscott could not speak to the specific instances of bullying that Shortt referred to.
