Huntsville OPP confirms gunshot during IDA armed robbery investigation

A secondary investigation in connection to the Hometown IDA Drug Store armed robbery on Mar. 3 is underway. The Huntsville OPP says they are looking into an unintended discharge of firearm by an officer at the scene. At around 1 p.m., witnesses had reported a loud noise, that sounded like a gunshot, as officers were searching the area around Caroline and Centre Streets for the suspected armed robber. Police didn’t release a confirmation until 5:30 p.m. No injuries were reported. Huntsville Public School was still in session, but under a hold and secure when the gunshot was fired. The hold and secure was lifted just after 2 p.m.
