More Huntsville 2015 budget details

Taxes are going up in Huntsville. Council passed its 2015 budget yesterday and it will see a levy increase of just over 3.5 percent. This means homeowners with properties assessed at $300,000 will pay $38 more in taxes this year than they have in years past. More from Mayor Scott Aitchison on what’s fuelling the budget, which is seeing more money put into Public Works…

As well, the Chamber of Commerce had asked Council for $90,000 this year for the ‘Marketing Our Communities’ initiative, but Council decided to only give them $60,000. Aitchison says a committee’s being struck between the Town and the Chamber to see how that initiative should look and how to get the best bang for their buck.
