Huntsville Council adopts its 2015 Budget: Taxes going up by just over 3.5 percent

Today Huntsville council adopted the 2015 budget. We spoke with Mayor Scott Aitchison this afternoon and will have that interview ready for you tomorrow. The increase will see homeowners with an average property assessment of $300,000 pay $38 more in taxes than they did last year. Fuelling the increase are items like new spending in Public Works. Also – Council decided not to grant the Chamber’s $90,000 ask for the ‘Marketing Our Communities’ initiative – Things are status quo with council granting them $60,000 as in year’s past. More budget details tomorrow!
